The rain occurring in Bihar has brought joy to rice farmers, and it will benefit the crops

In most regions of Bihar, the rain that has occurred in the past week has brought joy to farmers. Due to the scarcity of water caused by a lack of rain, the rice crop that was withering has now turned green again, bringing smiles to the faces of farmers. Rice farmers had seen their crops turn yellow in the fields due to the lack of rain in the previous constellation.

Dr. S.K. Singh, an agricultural scientist at Bihar Agricultural University, also states that this rain will benefit the rice crop. He mentioned that it will maintain moisture in the fields for an extended period, which could also be advantageous for the upcoming winter crops.

In terms of statistics, the state needed 938.6 mm of rainfall, but until Saturday evening, only 671.4 mm of rainfall had been received. Except for Purnia, most other regions have received less rainfall than the state average.

In the Patna region, which includes all six districts - Patna, Nalanda, Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, and Kaimur, there has been a 36% deficit in rainfall, with Bhojpur experiencing a 46% deficit and Patna a 43% deficit. In the Magadh region, there has been a 39% deficit in rainfall.

Scientists explain that the rice plants have turned yellow due to the lack of water. Farmers couldn't apply urea to the fields because of the absence of water, causing the rice crop to turn completely yellow even before flowering. With water returning to the fields, farmers can now apply urea, and it is possible that the completely yellowed rice crop will regain its green color.

Farmers also believe that rain during the Uttar Nakshatra (constellation) benefits the rice crop. They say that if good rain also occurs during the Hathiya Nakshatra, the rice crop will improve further. However, the delayed rainfall has caused a delay in the rice planting process.
