Nano Urea: What Is It? Let's Find Out

Nano Urea: What Is It? Let's Find Out Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative (IFFCO), a fertilizer manufacturer and importer, holds a 41% stake in the company by the Government of India. Some time ago, the cooperative announced the discovery of nano-sized urea, claiming that plants absorb it more efficiently, resulting in an increase in crop yields of up to 8%.

They also claim that instead of using regular 45-kilogram bags of urea (45 kilograms of urea or 20.7 kilograms of nitrogen), farmers can now use 4% nano urea (43 grams of urea or 20 grams of nitrogen) along with a 500-milliliter bottle. Expect higher crop yields. The magic behind this change is that plants are better suited to absorb nano-particles, and this formulation also prevents leaching or the runoff of fertilizers, making it a bit better for both plants, farmers' wallets, and the environment. IFFCO claims that nano urea is nearly 1,035 times more efficiently absorbed by crops and is more effective both when applied to the soil and sprayed on leaves compared to traditional urea.
