According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several regions across the country are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall today, 28th August, with some areas likely to face extremely heavy downpours. The most severe rainfall is anticipated in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions, where isolated locations are expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall. Continuous rain in the Gujarat region has led to waterlogging in over 27 districts. A red alert has been issued for key districts including Vadodara, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Ahmedabad. The relentless downpour has also caused several dams to reach overflow levels.
Additionally, very heavy rainfall is likely in isolated areas of Southeast Rajasthan, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Coastal & South Interior Karnataka.
As per IMD, parts of North-Central India are also expected to witness heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms today, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
