Farmers, learn the advice of the Agricultural University to sow irrigated dry crops during the rainy season.

In view of heavy rainfall in Telangana, Dr. P. Raghuram Reddy, Director of Research at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), has issued advice to farmers on using rain for dry crop cultivation in the state.

The university stated that other crops such as maize, red gram, sunflower, castor, and rice can be protected from root-rot diseases by planting them using ridges and furrows during heavy and unpredictable rains, where growth is observed during the rainy season. According to the advice, maize should be given six to eight irrigations and should be sensitive to waterlogging during the first 30 days of sowing.

The university has advised farmers to select resistant medium-duration varieties of red gram and apply one bag of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) per acre in the final plowing. It has been mentioned that for sunflower fields, irrigation should be done at intervals of eight to ten days in light soil and 15 to 20 days in heavy soil, based on soil type and daily temperatures.
