From weather information to crop insurance Technology-driven initiative launched for farmers

Farmers will be able to get the benefit of accurate meteorological information on time. Along with this, they will also be able to estimate their yield and take advantage of crop insurance. For this initiative has been started by the central government. Three technology driven initiatives have been launched by the Government of India.

Under these three technology initiatives, farmers will be helped in providing accurate and timely weather information, estimating yield estimates, and availing crop insurance. Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju said at an event that the Meteorological Data Information System will provide important information to farmers. Also, he said that 'the aim is to bridge the gap in weather information availability and empower decision makers, farmers and stakeholders at the grassroots level.
