Due to drought, 40 lakh hectares of agricultural crops have been destroyed in Karnataka, and there is hope for compensation of 5,000 to 6,000 crore rupees from the central government.
Approximately 40 lakh hectares of agricultural crops and 2 lakh hectares of horticultural crops have been affected in Karnataka, where the drought has been declared in 195 taluks. This information was provided by the state's Revenue Minister, Krishna Byre Gowda. He stated that a memorandum requesting relief will be submitted to the central government within a week, and under the rules of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a total compensation of around 5,000 to 6,000 crore rupees may be received.

Gowda, speaking to reporters, said, "This year, there has been a significant deficiency in rainfall across the state. Already, 195 taluks have been declared drought-affected. According to estimates, 40 lakh hectares of agricultural crops have been damaged, and 2 lakh hectares of horticultural crops have been affected. Officials have been directed to expedite the preparation of the necessary memorandum to be submitted to the center regarding drought-affected taluks."
He added, "The work of preparing the memorandum is 70% complete. There is an opportunity to seek separate compensation for fodder and drinking water, and a complete memorandum will be prepared in the next three days."
The minister also mentioned, "Officials from the central government have promised to come to the state immediately after the memorandum is submitted for inspection. Therefore, it will be presented in the cabinet for approval and then submitted within this week.
